Community Service Worker - County of Bergen
Department of Health Services – Division of Mental Health & Addiction Services
Under supervision, performs supportive functions and assists people who have a substance use disorder and/or opioid use disorder diagnosis and/or are in recovery
Job Responsibilities: (may include but not limited to)
· Provide recovery support and peer coaching to program participants.
· Assists individuals in developing recovery plans.
· Educate individuals on treatment and support service navigation.
· Provide recovery support services based on individual’s preference and assessed needs.
· Support individuals in their recovery as they move through stages of change.
· Assist individuals in accessing recovery support services in the community.
· Work collaboratively with the case manager to ensure individuals engage in services and transitions.
· Be a positive role model by sharing experiential knowledge, hope, and skills.
· Develop and maintain relationships with individuals in order to assess them in treatment engagement and retention.
· Reinforce, guide, and reassure the individual that recovery is possible and build upon their strengths and coping abilities.
· Assist individuals with gaining skills and resources to maintain recovery, including MAT as applicable.
· Assist in establishing and sustaining a social and physical environment supportive of recovery.
· Enhance identification and participation in the recovery community.
· Advocate for appropriate and effective community treatment and recovery
· Empower individuals to make self-determined and self-directed choices about recovery pathways.
· Provide individual and group support in-person.
· Help individuals maintain healthy community, family and social functioning.
· Participates in team meetings and training.
· Documents clear, accurate and informative reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
· Work harmoniously with team, clients, and community.
Education Requirements:
· High School diploma, GED or equivalent required; Associates degree or higher preferred
Schedule:
· Full Time
· Able to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts per client needs.
Other:
· Two (2) years of experience in the guiding principles of recovery
· Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) or National Certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (may earn upon employment)
